International Ambassador
Emporia State University
The moment I arrived in America, I knew I wanted to take on the role of an IA. This was mainly because, they were the first friendly faces we experienced on our long journey away from home. They left a long lasting impression on us, and I knew I wanted the opportunity to pass it along.
To be an effective member I demonstrated thoughtful, compassionate knowledge of foreign cultures and openness to learning new customs. Provided 300+ incoming international students with the peer support network to help them transition easily into new physical environment as well as large college community. Worked directly with diverse student groups, serving as role model and fostering a beneficial cycle of learning, where international students shared first-hand experiences on how to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
